Julie Tan is a violinist with The Lyme Light. She has been playing violin since age nine and enjoys performing solo, in orchestras, and in chamber groups. A Senior at East Lyme High School, Julie is Concertmaster of the Chamber Orchestra and the School Orchestra. Thus far, she has been a member of the Connecticut All-State, Connecticut Eastern Region, and New England Music Festival Orchestras. In the fall, she has played mallets in the Pit Percussion section of the East Lyme Viking Marching Band. Julie teaches violin at the Southeastern Connecticut Chinese School to young children on the weekends. Actively serving the community, Julie was a recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award at the Gold and Silver levels. She is Red Cross certified in Pediatric and Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid. Her other hobbies include tennis, math, and reading.
